Friday 25th November 2022 in Tanzania, Mo Green Promotions hosted the vacant WBF International Super Middleweight Title between Twaha Kassim of Tanzania and Victor Hugo Exner of Argentina in the Main Event of the evening.
The official weigh-in was conducted at the Murogoro Bus Stand in front of a huge crowd and was televised live on Azam TV that broadcast throughout most of Africa. Exner was a late replacement for Kassim’s original opponent Damian Ezequiel also of Argentina, who withdrew from the fight due to family commitments. With the WBF International Title on the line and a possible top 10 rating, Exner, when offered the fight did not hesitate and jumped at the chance to fight the Tanzanian in his own back yard.
With a stacked undercard, the Main Event did not get underway until 11.45pm and none of the capacity crowd at the Jamuhuri Stadium were going anywhere, with the much anticipated fight promising to be brutal contest.
From the opening bell, Kassim and Exner didn’t follow most championship title fight blue prints with feel out rounds and caution, instead, they both started very strong and extremely busy and that’s the way the fight went for the entire scheduled 10 rounds, much to the delight of the capacity crowd in attendance as they were on their feet the entire fight with songs and dance in praise of both combatants who showed tremendous skill and strength throughout the tough and entertaining contest.
After 10 gruelling rounds, with neither fighter down, both fighters had left nothing in the tank as they gave their all. Now to the judge’s score cards for the decision. All 3 judges scored the bout 99-91 in favour of Twaha Kassim of Tanzania who was crowned the new WBF International Super Middleweight Champion and has now earnt himself a top 10 position in the WBF World ratings with a possible World Title shot looming.
